This Indian Naan Pizza is a delicious and easy-to-make recipe which makes it one of our favorite recipes! It works as a dinner for whole family or lunchtime favorite when you have guests you want to impress.
The lamb and tzatziki sauce give the naan a unique but amazing taste. It’s super quick too! It only took us about 15 minutes of prep and 10 minutes to bake, so you don’t have to spend too much time in the kitchen!

Best Indian Naan Pizza Recipe
- SO easy to make: Pizza is infamously quick to prepare, and since this recipe uses naan as the crust, it’s even easier. Aside from browning the ground lamb, the whole dish takes only a few minutes to prepare before you pop it in the oven.
- Unique: Everyone is surprised when we cook this for lunch or dinner! When you say, “pizza”, your friends will picture a flatbread topped with tomatoes, but this Indian Naan Flatbread replaces the tomato sauce with tzatziki giving it a special flavor.
- Flavorful: Curry, coriander, tzatziki, lamb – these flatbreads are topped with the delicious and traditional Indian flavors that we all love.
- Packed with veggies: You could easily make this dish entirely vegetarian by leaving off the lamb or replacing it with tofu. But I love a dinner that’s filled with spinach and mushrooms to make sure our family gets a full serving of vegetables at each meal.
Ingredients for Indian Flatbread Pizza (And Substitutions)
- 1 lb ground lamb – this dish actually used about 12 oz, but it’s typically sold by the pound so we cooked the whole thing. You could replace the lamb with ground beef, chicken, or bison.
- 8 oz tzatziki sauce – Any tzatziki you find at the store will work. You could also make your own tzatziki if you’re feeling up to the challenge!
- 4 oz spinach – Spinach is popular with Indian recipes, but you could replace it with kale or arugula.
- 4 oz mushrooms – I used sliced white mushrooms. You could use cremini as well if you have those on hand.
- 1 tsp curry powder – Grab your favorite curry powder.
- 1 tsp coriander – If you don’t have coriander, you could use cumin in its place.
- 1 tsp garlic powder – I prefer salt-free garlic powder.
- 1/2 red onion – Slice up a red onions for flavor and to make the pizza colors pop. White or yellow onions would work in a pinch.
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese (shredded) – Mozzarella cheese is my favorite and melts the best. I thought about using shredded goat cheese, but I prefer the flavor of mozzarella. Torn up fresh mozzarella would also be a great choice.
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional) – Drizzle extra virgin olive oil on the pizza once its prepared. I also used a dash in the pan while cooking the lamb.
How To Make Indian Flatbread Pizza
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Add a drizzle of olive oil, lamb, curry powder, coriander, and garlic powder to a saucepan. Cook on medium-high heat on skillet until all the lamb is brown.
After the lamb is cooked, set it aside to add to flatbreads later.
Layout 4 naan flatbreads. 1 lb of lamb covers about 4 large naan flatbreads. Adjust accordingly if needed.
Add a large spoonful of tzatziki to each naan and spread around as if it was a tomato sauce on a pizza.
Add a handful of shredded cheese to each flatbread. These don’t need to be as cheesy as traditional pizzas, so we like to keep the cheese on the lighter side.
Spread the cooked ground lamb to each naan – about 3-4 oz.
Add uncooked spinach, mushrooms, and red onions.
Place on rack in oven for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
Enjoy your Indian Naan Pizza! Hold this one close and whip it out when you have guests over!
Tips for Making Indian Naan Pizza
- This recipe makes a big batch of pizzas – 4 total. Our naan were about 8 inches in diameter, so you may need to adjust the amounts based on which size naan you have. This recipe is super easy though, so adjusting isn’t tough!
- They taste best hot and fresh. Don’t get me wrong – I love making meals that we eat the next day. But these naan flatbread pizzas tasted best right when they came out the oven.
- We used plain white naan. If you want more flavor, you could use cheese or garlic naan. If you want a healthier option, you can use whole wheat naan.
- Try it with fresh mozzarella! In my opinion, fresh mozzarella is the best cheese you can get. You could also throw some goat cheese crumbles on top.
- Place on a pizza stone, pan, or aluminum foil before you put them in the oven. I have never tried them directly on the oven rack, but I am guessing the naan will get too crispy before the cheese fully melts. For these, I put a sheet of aluminum foil in the oven and placed them on top of it. If you need a pizza stone, here is one I love.
Storing Your Indian Naan Pizza
- This recipe tastes best hot and fresh, but you can store naan pizza the same as you would store regular pizza.
- You can leave them in the fridge for 4-5 days, and they will stay fresh.
Reheating Your Indian Naan Pizza
- The easiest and probably best way to reheat your pizza is in a toaster oven. 8 minutes at 400 degrees will get them nice and warm.
- If you are in a hurry, you can pop them in the microwave for a minute.
